Open Book Festival Youth Festival

The Open Book Youth Festival is an annual literary festival that precedes the Open Book Festival which focusses on South African literature in an international context.

The Youth Festival is its own standalone event featuring activities for all the young ones, including storytime sessions, writing and storytelling workshops, presentations by writers, and open mic sessions for aspiring poets.

The festival takes place at various schools, libraries and other venues. All events are free to attend, but registration is required.

Participating authors and illustrators this year include Mia Arderne, Meridian Berndt, Subi Bosa, and Kirsty Jean.

Special presentations are led by Salamina Mosese and Refiloe Moahloli, Makhosazana "Max" De Wette Dludla, Dr. Xolisa Guzula and Dr. Athambile Masola, and award-winning children's book author Alex Latimer.
