The PJ Olivier Art Centre, housed in a heritage-listed building on Blom Street, has been a dedicated art education institution since 1953. It serves learners from Grades 1 through 12, offering both curriculum and extracurricular programmes in visual arts and design for surrounding schools. The architecture of the building, with origins dating to pre-1817, and its gardens provide a distinctive, inspiring setting. The centre’s mission emphasises visual literacy, creativity and problem-solving rather than only technical production.
The centre hosts regular exhibitions showcasing the work of its learners alongside that of established local artists, creating a platform for dialogue between emerging and professional creators. These exhibitions span diverse media: including painting, sculpture, photography, and digital design.
