Summer Gardens 2024: Where Nature Flourishes and Serenity Prevails!

Summer Gardens is hosted by Gardens of the Golden City enabling participants to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and step into the enchanting world of beautiful gardens. The aim is to raise funds for various charities, each one before being selected is interviewed and debated by the committee, and over the years donations have been made to many well-deserving associations.

The chosen charities for this season are Little Eden and Kitty Kazz Kitten Rescue. All proceeds from the gate entrance go to these chosen charities.

6-7 April -Guests can embark on a journey through the creation of Natalie’s indigenous garden, where the vibrant tapestry of local flora is carefully woven together. In this evolving landscape, native plants proudly emerge, reflecting the rich biodiversity of indigenous plants. Delicate blooms, resilient succulents, and fragrant herbs take root, promising to transform the space into a haven for indigenous species attracting bees and birds. As the garden unfolds, guests envision a sanctuary where the spirit of a unique botanical heritage comes to life, inviting one to witness the beauty of a landscape shaped by the colours, scents, and textures of the native flora. There will also be a tea garden.

19 May and 23 June- Shepstone Gardens are a mix of verdant and intriguing concealed spaces, captivating visitors with a theatrical display of nature’s wonders. Towering trees with gnarled branches create a lush canopy that filters sunlight into a dappled dance, casting enchanted shadows on the meandering pathways below. Intrigue lurks in every corner, with hidden alcoves and secluded nooks inviting visitors to lose themselves in the garden’s secrets. The owner took inspiration from 18th-century English gardens, especially in terms of the views and different levels. Plant-wise, this is a garden of contrasts – lofty ferns are underplanted with clivias and on the sunny inclines succulents and aloes create a blaze of colours. There will be a Tea Garden.
