The 48-hour Film Project is an opportunity for film-lovers of all types, from enthusiasts, to amateurs, to professionals to gather teammates, friends, colleagues or family for the ultimate filmmaking challenge.
Participating teams must write, shoot and edit a short film of up to seven minutes based on a genre drawn at The Kickoff and the required character, prop, and line assigned for their film. All films receive a local screening and films submitted within the stipulated time are eligible for prizes, including a Best Directing, Best Acting, Best Film, and Audience Award.
The winner of Best Film from each city goes to the annual international film festival, Filmapalooza, where the Grand Champion of the Year is announced. A selection of the top films also get screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. This is an opportunity for participants to try something new and level up their filmmaking.
Filming took place between 25 and 27 September, followed by the official premiere screenings from 21 to 22 October, before the awards ceremony on 27 November.
