Famed for being the last Art Deco cinema in the country, the Apollo Theatre has recently been revamped and reopened to the public.
With promise as a cultural hub, the theatre aims to build its artistic repertoire while attracting the arts from all over the country. The art deco theme of the building has been restored in its refurbishment with a style remniscient of the 1920s.
The Apollo Theater is home to the Apollo Development Association, an organization aimed at helping and empowering local communities. The association offers young artists a place to explore their creativity and bring to life events and projects they have been working towards.
The theatre also hosts the annual Apollo Film Festival which is popular for screening and promoting South African films.
