Folk Memoir is a musical showcase series centred on attentive listening, bringing together two artists for solo performances before culminating in a collaborative closing set created especially for that audience.
This edition features Senna-Marie, a Johannesburg-based songwriter and interdisciplinary artist bringing gentle attention to the necessary frictions that accompany intimacy who has recently returned from a music residency in Basel after presenting Threshold at the World Biodiversity Forum in Davos, and Itai Hakim, a multifaceted musician and performance poet who reshapes folklore into a contemporary, socially resonant art form who has performed at TEDxJohannesburg and closed conferences for the Democracy Works Foundation.
Johannesburg audiences have the opportunity to experience three distinct sets: solo performances from Senna-Marie and Itai Hakim, and a collaborative closing set that explores the intersection of voice, guitar, and the possibilities of a new creation.
