Founded in 2013 and partially sponsored by Puma, the Nine Four is a Cape Town-based running crew inspired by the Berlin Braves. Its name references 1994, the year of South Africa’s democratic transition, symbolizing inclusivity and collaboration across diverse backgrounds. The crew’s white rabbit logo embodies the pursuit of self-improvement and shared goals.
The Nine Four prioritizes community and camaraderie, with running as a foundation for personal growth, and fostering a supportive space free from societal pressures. While running remains central, the group emphasizes creativity and connection, blending athletic pursuits with social activities.
The club’s hub, The Burrow, is a two-story nightclub that serves as a gathering space, hosting post-run parties, events and celebrations. "Run easy. Party hard.", The Nine Four encourages participants to challenge themselves while embracing the fun and social and aspects of their journey.
