The Royal Reed Dance Day Tour invites guests to Kwa Nongoma, north of Durban, witness the country's most famous cultural event.
Here, thousands of young Zulu women and girls from different villages dressed in traditional clothing and beadwork sing and dance while making their way to the King’s Palace. A guide will explain all the customs and traditions on display to participants as they watch all the jovial tribal members who come see the festival.
The ceremony is an important and significant event in Zulu history and tradition, and guides ensure that this is grasped by all guests while they enjoy the festive performances. As part of the tribal ceremony, the young girls present the Zulu King with reeds. Hotel pick-ups and drop-offs are included as well as the transport to the venue in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Bookings must be made in advance. The extensive tour lasts approximately 13 hours, and can also be conducted in Portuguese and French.
