Situated inside the University of Free State as part of the Humanities and Drama departments, the Scaena Theatre Complex comprises of two main theatres: the main Scaena Theatre and the smaller, more intimate Rehearsal Room.
The Scaena Theatre stages both module and outside professional productions and functions. Some of Bloemfontein’s arts shows from various festivals make use of the space. It is built with ultra-modern minimalistic foyer and the wheelchair friendly auditorium seats 195 patrons.
The Rehearsal Room is a box theatre with the theatre-in-the-round stage design, with seating for a maximum of 120 people.
