Tobias Viljoen’s landscape compositions evolve from original self-photographed pictures. He is a horticulture graduate from Cape Town University, and this is where his love for all things botanic started, spurring on his journey into the art world.
Viljoen’s work has been exhibited all over South Africa, and as far as the Netherlands. His paintings are in private collections across the world. In recent years he started doing pottery and this now occupies part of the Tobias Art gallery, which he co-owns with his life partner Herman Steyn. The space also stocks home decor elements and gift items.
Steyn is also a visual artist, and is a graduate from the Film School and Fashion Academy in Pretoria. His love for wordplay and creative sewing are exhibited all over the gallery in the form of printed t-shirts, stickers, signs, shopping bags, cotton serviettes, place mats and aprons.
