Tushita Kadampa Meditation Centre

Located in Cape Town, the Tushita Kadampa Meditation Centre (Tushita KMC) is a member of The New Kadampa Tradition: International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). The NKT-IKBU is an international association of Mahayana Buddhist study and meditation centres founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1991 to present the practical wisdom of Kadampa Buddhism to people around the world. There are now over 1200 NKT-IKBU centres and groups in 40 countries around the world.

Tushita KMC opens its doors to all in search of a spiritual home, regardless of class or colour, including ordained monks and nuns. All are welcome to this blessed sanctuary, to seek solace from the stresses of modern life. Various meditation classes, courses and retreats are offered at the centre; online classes are provided on Zoom and are free to join.

Meditation sessions are also presented in other locations around Cape Town, including the CBD and Hout Bay, among others. The centre also caters to children, offering meditation classes that are suited for ages five to 12. Parents are free to join the classes or can enjoy some refreshments at the Centre while they wait. Tushita KMC is entirely managed by volunteers, depending solely on the goodwill of people.
