From the rolling rose gardens north of Pretoria to the pick-your-own flower fields in Hartbeespoort and Benoni, each farm offers a different way to savour the season. Flower Haven Farm
Flower Haven Farm in Benoni is a working flower farm that opens its gates to the public on Saturday mornings during the flowering season. Typically running from September to April, the season can shift slightly depending on the weather and when the first blooms appear.
Visitors are invited to pick their own fresh flowers straight from the fields, with the best times being early morning or late evening. Cooler temperatures at these hours ensure the flowers remain well hydrated, helping to prevent wilting and extending their vase life at home.
As this is a working farm, guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring along a bucket or vase for their freshly cut blooms. Buckets are also available for purchase on site, and scissors are provided, making it easy to create a personal bouquet to take home.

Akanaka Blooms – The Flower Acre
Akanaka Blooms is a microflower farm situated on a five-acre agricultural holding, growing seasonal flowers that evoke romance and playfulness, as well as grace and charm. They sustainably grow flowers, placing little reliance on chemical pest control.
“This flower farming journey is personal to me, a journey for myself and my son with cognitive impairments and learning disabilities,” says founder Nzwi Dyirakumunda. “It’s a quest to find healing, to find myself, and hopefully bring joy to those around me.”
Tag along on selected Saturday mornings in spring and summer to walk between rows of a beautiful splash of colour and scent and pick your own flowers and herbs. The team will provide you with a bucket and a pair of flower clippers and let you explore our patch and the varieties that we grow. Seasonal blooms include lovely ranunculus, dahlias, anemones, snaps and unique foliage and fillers.

Marvellous Orchid
Marvellous Orchid in Gauteng is a specialist grower devoted to the beauty and diversity of orchids. You’ll find them in serene surroundings in Randburg, Boksburg and Lynwood. The nursery showcases an impressive collection ranging from delicate Phalaenopsis to rare and exotic varieties, making it a destination for both collectors and casual plant lovers. Visitors are welcome to browse the greenhouses, where vibrant colours and striking blooms create a truly enchanting atmosphere.
Beyond cultivating and selling orchids, Marvellous Orchid also shares its expertise through regular workshops. These hands-on sessions guide enthusiasts in caring for their plants, from repotting and feeding to encouraging successful flowering. The workshops are designed for all levels, offering both practical skills and inspiration.

Adene’s Farm Flowers
Adene’s Farm Flowers is a beautiful flower farm at The Big Red Barn in Pretoria. Founded by Adene Nieuwoudt, this floral oasis is a place of passion where visitors can pick their own growing, high-quality flowers.
The farm’s location is perfect for growing a wide variety of flowers, from anemones to dahlias. Adene has been growing flowers since 2016, and her journey into flowers started after she worked as a wedding photographer and noticed the high cost and limited availability of certain flowers. This inspired her to start the farm, which has since flourished with eco-friendly growing methods and a commitment to quality.
The farm is also open to the public during special open days, where visitors can wander through fields of dahlias, hydrangeas, and more.

Lavender SA
Lavender SA is a fragrant haven located on the eastern outskirts of Pretoria that is dedicated to celebrating the beauty and versatility of lavender. Its roots lie in the Wild Lavender Farm within the Bronberg Conservancy, where game such as zebra and antelope roam freely. In 2012, the venture expanded to Le Domaine de la Varé, a nearby farm with a distinctly Provençal charm, and Lavender SA was officially established.
Today, the farm cultivates lavender alongside a variety of plants and trees, supplying the public, retailers, landscape architects and horticulturalists. Just 25 kilometres east of Menlyn Park, the estate offers a tranquil escape where visitors can book photo sessions in the picturesque fields or inside the elegant main house. Femme Pétale Flower Farm

Open Farm Days invites guests to explore the gardens and gather their own selection of flowers, while workshops such as “Field to Vase” and “Bouquet Basics” teach the art of harvesting and arranging. These sessions highlight the importance of colour, balance and proportion, while nurturing creativity and appreciation for locally grown flowers.

Ludwig’s Roses
Ludwig’s Roses is a well-established rose nursery and working farm with venues in Glenferness in Joburg, Pretoria-East and Irene in Pretoria. Open daily from early morning to late afternoon, this fragrant destination invites visitors to wander through endless fields and display gardens filled with a mesmerising array of rose varieties.
At the heart of the experience lies The Rose Kitchen, where guests can enjoy freshly brewed coffee, light meals, and rose-inspired treats amid floral beauty. Bev’s Blooms
Hidden away in the scenic Hartbeespoort is Bev’s Blooms, a charming flower farm that captures the essence of country living. You’ll be greeted by a relaxed, idyllic atmosphere as the farm invites visitors to wander through rows of vibrant seasonal blooms and experience the joy of pick-your-own flowers.
The welcoming Larder Hartbeespoort café adds to the experience with freshly brewed coffee, a short but wholesome menu, and a farm stall stocked with local produce. Bev’s Blooms continues to expand its floral offerings with new plantings adding to the variety each season—snapdragons will soon be in bloom.

The Aloe Farm
The Aloe Farm in Hartbeespoort is one of the few working flower farms and garden centres dedicated to aloes and other indigenous plants. Open daily, it offers visitors the chance to explore expansive display gardens showcasing an impressive variety of aloes, alongside agapanthus, bonsais and other locally cultivated plants.
One of the highlights of the year is the annual Aloe Festival, held in winter when hundreds of aloe species burst into colour. This spectacular display attracts both birdlife and plant enthusiasts, with guided tours providing fascinating insights into the farm’s horticultural expertise and innovative plant breeding.
Guests can browse the nursery, where distinctive hybrids and rare cultivars are available for purchase, and enjoy the tranquil setting of the farm. A newly opened café adds to the experience.
