The Best Flower Farms in Johannesburg and Surrounds

Every season, flower farms in Gauteng and Hartbeespoort open their gates for visitors to wander through fields of blooms, gather armfuls of fresh flowers, and enjoy seasonal farm-to-table hospitality. From the rolling rose gardens north of Pretoria to the pick-your-own flower fields in Hartbeespoort and Benoni, each farm offers a different way to savour the season. Here are some of the best ones to visit.

Flower Haven Farm

Flower Haven Farm in Benoni is a working flower farm that opens its gates to the public on Saturday mornings during the flowering season. Typically running from September to April, the season can shift slightly depending on the weather and when the first blooms appear.

Visitors are invited to pick their own fresh flowers straight from the fields, with the best times being early morning or late evening. Cooler temperatures at these hours ensure the flowers remain well hydrated, helping to prevent wilting and extending their vase life at home.

As this is a working farm, guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring along a bucket or vase for their freshly cut blooms. Buckets are also available for purchase on site, and scissors are provided, making it easy to create a personal bouquet to take home.
