On Wednesday, 14 April 2026, HomeComing Events officially launched FonCity 2026, releasing tickets for the highly anticipated Sun City weekend Takeover happening from Friday to Monday, 6 to 9 November 2026. As with many Homecoming Events, packages sold out in under an hour, marking the beginning of what is set to become an unforgettable event.
Though packages may be sold out, hopeful attendees should keep an eye out on the Homecoming Events social media pages for opportunities to win tickets leading up to November. For those who already have their hands on these coveted tickets, here’s what you can look forward to.
What’s new at FonCity
FonCity returns bigger and bolder than ever before, welcoming an unprecedented 3500 partygoers to the 2026 Sun City takeover, the largest number of attendees to date.
A fresh new theme
The festival returns with the theme: ‘A Journey Through Time’, so guests should expect activations, experiences, decor and events that have to do with the passage of time, with a heavy focus on the futuristic.
New events and experiences
Homecoming Events is also reopening the Valley of Waves for the exciting return of the iconic Valley of Waves Beach Party.
Not only do attendees get to party in the evenings, but there are also opportunities to relax, drink, dance and get social in the daytime, with more Day Clubs in store for the 2026 event. With GALXBOY as a partner once again, the festival Day Clubs are being taken to another level, allowing the good times to roll from day-to-night.
FonCity is also taking a community-based approach this year, raising funds to eradicate pit toilets from underprivileged schools with their Golf Day event. The team has their eye on a particular school for which they hope to raise R500 000.
Whatever the amount raised, Sun City is willing to match it to help even more disadvantaged schools across the nation. Keep an eye out for tickets for this community outreach event.
Returning FonCity favourites
It’s not a HomeComing event without a hot lineup. 2025 saw artists such as 25K, DBN Gogo, Ayanda MVP, Jullian Gomes, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza de Small, Dlala Thukzin, K Mat, Mawhoo and more entertain the crowds. Attendees can expect some of these artists and more to make an appearance this year. Keep an eye out on socials for lineup announcements.
The popular all-white party is also making a huge return, along with wellness events, the FonCity finale and the Majita Monday close-out.
Behind FonCity
HomeComing Events are behind many popular Gauteng events such as Friends Like Me, Tshwanefontein, Hatfield Freshers and, of course, FonCity.
FonCity initially launched during Covid, under heavy restrictions that only allowed for 500 attendees at full capacity. Through a love and passion for the experience, the folks at HomeComing Events and Sun City forged ahead, making the experience bigger and better each year, turning it into the cultural phenomenon it has become today.
The fruitful partnership with GALXBOY comes from a storied history between GALXBOY founder, Thatiso Dube, and HomeComing Events. The relationship between the two formed when Thatiso used to make posters for the events organisation. Thatiso ended up collaborating on the idea for the FonCity Day Clubs which launched in 2024, elevating the event to new levels and further solidifying an extraordinary partnership.
