Hobby-X 2024: All Things Arts and Crafts at This Massive Expo in Joburg

Calling all craft lovers and hobbyists, Hobby-X returns to Johannesburg this year with a fresh new theme, ‘Retro Rewind’. Taking place from 2 to 5 May at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, South Africa’s premier craft and hobby exhibition is bringing a nostalgic charm to the crafts table with a modern twist.

Classic trends, styles, and techniques are revisited, while timeless hobbies, vintage crafting and traditional methods are reinvented. The exciting new lineup features demonstrations, workshops, competitions, and a host of other experiences.

Exciting craft activities for the entire family

Hobby-X 2024 offers some amazing opportunities to get creative, expand skills and even take up a new hobby. One of the most popular features at this year’s event is a dedicated Crafters Area for free-flow creativity, while the communal workshop area showcases exhibitions, interactive workshops and demonstrations to introduce handmade products and crafting techniques.

‘We’re thrilled to bring back Hobby-X this year with so many new features, including the Crafters Area, the competitions, and workshops,’ says Marlene Bosch, the show director. ‘Our visitors will have an incredible experience filled with endless creativity, inspiration, and entertainment.’

Kids and the young at heart will love the Book Corner and model trains section. There is also a gin garden and food court space to refuel between breaks, providing an impressive range of food, snacks and drinks.

The Man Cave, a brand new addition to Hobby-X

The new ‘Man Cave’ at Hobby-X 2024 provides a whole new array of activities. Keen collectors and those simply interested in trying a new hobby can learn more about drones, remote-controlled cars, planes, simulators, classic cars, café racers, several comic stores, a gaming area, a pool table, and billiard.

Gents looking to unwind and spoil themselves can head to the cigar lounge. This new range of immersive experiences aims to provide a haven for all enthusiasts to explore, create, and connect.
