Hyatt House Johannesburg is once again offering a special Iftar buffet menu running for the holy month of Ramadan only. Their restaurants in Rosebank and Sandton are inviting guests to dine on a flavoursome multi-course dinner menu. Whether you’re observing Ramadan or just after a Johannesburg restaurant serving authentic cuisine in a chilled atmosphere, this experience is worth a try.
Merging Cape Malay and Middle Eastern cuisine for the Iftar buffet
Start off with soft dates to break the fast, along with a selection of samoosas, chicken pies, and a range of Middle Eastern faves such as tzatziki, baba ghanoush, hummus and more to make your own mezze platter.
A selection of salads are also on the menu, from mixed leafy greens, red onion, marinated tomato, olives, feta, and croutons to fresh tabbouleh salad, Arabic style cous cous salad, classic caesar salad, dressing, sauces, and pickles.
Next comes a table filled with bottomless savoury dishes. Think hearty butter chicken that melts in the mouth, grilled chicken (Shish Tawook) and Arabic line fish (Sayadieh), traditional beef korma, braised potato and chickpea coconut curry, Haleem soup, and pilaf rice, all cooked to perfection at the restaurant’s bespoke oven.
For dessert, have a taste of a delightful Malay spiced milk tart, enjoy the pistachio and rose Knafeh style baked cheesecake, try out the almond and saffron spiced basbousa, or simply indulge in a refreshing seasonal fruit salad.
The atmosphere at both venues is relaxed with modern, understated furnishings in earthy neutrals.
