The creativity and craftsmanship of African designers are on full display at JAMAA, a pop-up fashion boutique that will open in Sandton City on 31 January 2025. This multi-brand pop-up showcases a thoughtfully curated selection of beauty, fashion, accessories, and ceramics.

JAMAA, inspired by the Swahili word for “family,” captures the essence of unity, creativity, and collaboration. Showcasing standout brands from South Africa and Kenya, it weaves together diverse influences into a vibrant tapestry of innovation. Every piece in the store is a testament to Africa’s unparalleled craftsmanship, offering shoppers a curated collection of distinctive, one-of-a-kind designs.
Set within an expansive 187-square-meter space, this fashion boutique in Johannesburg boasts soaring ceilings and an industrial-modern aesthetic.

At the JAMAA store, a range of Pan-African fashion labels blends laid-back coastal vibes with bold, artistic and minimalist designs. mille collines reimagines the vibrant prints and sustainable ethos of African design through a contemporary lens, while the looks of Kenyan fashion label KikoRomeo honour a deep appreciation for traditional crafts and heritage of the continent. The intricate collection of Studio Namnyak aims to bring back the beauty of weaving with a selection of pieces with structural and embroidery detailing.
BeachCult is a South African fashion brand that captures the essence of modern beach culture with a touch of luxury and individuality. On the ultra-glamorous spectrum, designer Kat van Duinen’s namesake label has become the standard for sensual and classic evening dresses, power suits, and glam accessories.
Hats, bags and jewellery
Joburgers just got one more space to explore and shop the sought-after creations of leading artisanal milliner, Crystal Birch. The collection toes a fine line between the classic and nostalgic lines and head-turning looks that lean towards the quirky, eclectic and playful side.
From dainty designs to maximalist statement totes, the handcrafted bags of Beaded Clique by Maria Chatzistrati add a touch of softness and fairytale charm to any look.
Adèle Dejak is an international Kenya-based designer who creates handmade fashion accessories using upcycled materials for modern, sophisticated, and multidimensional women.
Beauty brands
The Tres Nagual range of botanical fragrances, soap bars, healing balms, and oils is fully plant-based. All ingredients come from sustainable wild community harvests or are directly sourced by founders Florian Baumann and David Plenderleith from farmer co-operatives in Zimbabwe, Malawi, and South Africa.
One of South Africa’s leading clean beauty brands, Chill Cape Town, can also be found at JAMAA. Their skincare line is pure, gentle and nourishing with ingredients that have been carefully selected for their positive qualities and documented effects.
Homeware
Nammu Ceramics specialises in earthy handmade creations that bring beauty and utility to everyday life. Their collection includes cups, bowls, plates, bowls, vases, candle holders.
