The Market Theatre has received a record-breaking 47 nominations at the Naledi Theatre Awards, marking them as the best in the business.
The massive tally has surpassed all previous nomination records and sees the Market Theatre affirming its place as South Africa’s most vibrant theatre, committed to telling unique South African stories.
On Monday night’s Naledi Reveal, the theatre scooped nominations in 17 categories, including five nominations in each of three different categories – the Best Lighting Design, the Best Ensemble and the Best Production of a Play.

The Market Theatre’s reputation for artistic excellence also resonates beyond the borders of Gauteng. Several successful productions are set to tour this year to Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and the UK.
