Park Hyatt Johannesburg is opening its first South African hotel in Rosebank this October 2024 which will further cement the precinct as one of Joburg’s most trendiest neighbourhoods. This new 31-room hotel, previously The Winston Hotel, is driving the growing interest in Joburg as a tourist destination. Here’s what we know to date.
Capturing Rosebank’s contemporary zeitgeist
Nestled in the heart of the chic and vibrant Rosebank district, the hotel redefines what ultra-luxury hospitality is about for business and leisure travellers in Johannesburg. Located at the former Winston Hotel, Park Hyatt Johannesburg underwent extensive renovations overseen by the Yabu Pushelberg design firm which previously worked on Park Hyatt New York, Park Hyatt Shenzhen, and Park Hyatt Bangkok.
Inspired by Johannesburg’s rich cultural heritage, the hotel’s architecture is a contemporary interpretation of the elegant colonial homes of the past, centred around a magnificent Jacaranda tree. This design ethos promises an environment where luxury is personal.
This project is spearheaded by The Millat Group which operates the Hyatt House in Rosebank and Sandton, and the Hyatt Regency in Cape Town.
“At Millat, we believe in the potential of South Africa as a premier travel destination and we are delighted to soon welcome the Park Hyatt Johannesburg to the Millat property portfolio in the country, which includes a Hyatt Regency in Cape Town and two Hyatt House properties in Sandton and Rosebank,” says Hamza Farooqui, CEO of Millat Group.
“This hotel is not just a place to stay; it is a place to experience the best that Johannesburg has to offer.”
Stylish stay options and fire-inspired dining at the Park Hyatt Johannesburg
The hotel features 31 uniquely styled rooms, which include 26 King Bedrooms, two Junior Suites
with enchanting garden views, one Wellness Suite, one Winston Suite, and one Rosebank Suite.
From keyless entry systems to the finest Egyptian cotton linens, pillows and bath menus, every
detail has been meticulously curated to provide unparalleled comfort and sophistication. Each
suite will offer spa-like bathrooms with modern, luxurious bathtubs and showers, and private
lounge areas.
This accommodation also promises an extraordinary culinary journey. The dining
experience will be a celebration of primaeval ultra-taste fire cooking, where three distinct methods—
barbecue grill, slow oven, and high oven—are used to create a sensory voyage of enchanting
flavours. Guests can witness the artistry of chefs transforming humble ingredients into culinary
masterpieces, blending nature’s bounty with human ingenuity.
