Quava Vocal Group is hosting their 15th-anniversary celebration concert, set to take place on Saturday, 2 November 2024, in Auckland Park. This vibrant and award-winning choir in Johannesburg is ringing in 15 years of harmony, passion, and musical excellence.
What to expect at the choir’s 15th Anniversary concert
Quava Vocal Group’s 15th anniversary concert promises a captivating and memorable evening of music, storytelling, and a celebration of the human spirit through song, all under the baton of Musical Director, Sabelo Mthembu. Their diverse repertoire includes jazz, African, and contemporary choral works.
Over the past decade and a half, the choir has brought beautiful music to its audiences while fostering a deep sense of community, love and healing through song and performance.
Here are some of Quava Vocal Group’s highlights
• Their debut album, In Your Light, was released in December 2022. Stream the album on Spotify and Apple Music
• The choir won two GOLD medals at the 2018 World Choir Games in Tshwane
• Won GOLD at the 2022 World Choral Cup in Spain, leading thirty-one choirs from 24 other countries
• A Conductor of the Tournament achievement for Sabelo Mthembu at the 2022 World Choral Cup in Spain
• Quava Vocal Group received a Standing Ovation Award at the 2019 National Arts Festival in Makhanda
• The choir performed at the RMB Starlight Classics in 2019 as well as 2023
