World Premiere of the Shaka iLembe Suite

Opening the concert is the highly anticipated debut of Philip Miller’s Shaka iLembe Suite, a vibrant celebration of South Africa’s rich heritage.

The suite features renowned vocalists Mbuso Khoza and Ann Masina, whose powerful voices bring depth to Miller’s evocative compositions. This piece not only showcases Miller’s mastery in orchestration but also highlights his unique ability to channel South African culture and history into a modern symphonic experience.

Gershwin’s Iconic Rhapsody in Blue Performed by Leo Gevisser

Marking the 100th anniversary of Rhapsody in Blue, the young and prodigiously talented South African pianist Leo Gevisser takes the stage to perform Gershwin’s iconic masterpiece.

The recent graduate of Juilliard, Gevisser, brings both technical brilliance and an expressive flair to this timeless piece, infusing it with the vitality and energy that Gershwin’s work demands. His dynamic stage presence and skillful interpretation promise to captivate the audience, making this performance a standout highlight of the evening’s program.

Internationally Acclaimed Conductor Kirill Karabits Leads the Evening

Guiding the orchestra on this South African tour is Kirill Karabits, an internationally acclaimed conductor celebrated for his profound musical insight and command over a vast repertoire. With a career spanning some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, Karabits brings both world-class technique and a unique interpretative depth to the evening’s program.
