South African National Parks (SANParks) will host the 20th annual SA National Parks Week from 22 to 26 September 2025, with selected parks extending the offer to 27 and 28 September. For one week only, visitors will enjoy free access to most of the 21 national parks managed by SANParks, creating the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature, culture and history.
Since its launch back in 2006, this national initiative has welcomed thousands of day visitors, helping to build pride in South Africa’s protected heritage. Here’s what you need to know.

Free access: 22 – 26 September 2025 - Mapungubwe National Park: 20 – 28 September 2025

Free State
- Golden Gate Highlands National Park: 22 – 28 September 2025

Northern Cape
- |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park: 22 – 26 September 2025
- Augrabies Falls National Park: 22 – 26 September 2025
- Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park: 22 – 28 September 2025
- Mokala National Park: 22 – 28 September 2025

Western Cape
- Agulhas National Park: 22 – 28 September 2025
- Bontebok National Park: 22 – 28 September 2025
- Table Mountain National Park: 22 – 25 September 2025 [Extension TBC] (excluding Boulders Penguin Colony section and the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway)
