Both seasoned and novice wine enthusiasts gather under one roof for the largest consumer wine event, discovering rare gems, exploring limited releases, and indulging in exclusive tastings from over 120 exhibitors.

What’s on at Standard Bank WineX 2026?
Standard Bank WineX is the must-attend event for Gauteng wine lovers to mingle with fellow enthusiasts and create lasting memories. Meet some of the country’s most prestigious wine farms and winemakers, learn about the craft of winemaking, and taste rare vintages.
Launched in 2000, this premium wine festival in Johannesburg is a highlight in South Africa’s wine show calendar. And as the title sponsor, Standard Bank Private aims to enhance the wine appreciation culture in South Africa.

In addition to regular award-winning brands and boutique winery favourites, this year’s WineX also welcomes independent and established newcomers. New! The Aroma Atelier challenges guests to follow the flavours with their noses
This year, Standard Bank WineX introduces the Aroma Atelier – a collection of aromas found in wine. Guests are challenged to see what they can discover when they follow their noses.
Most people don’t realise that you taste with your nose. Your tongue can only discern sweet, sour, salt, savoury and bitter. Beyond these most basic flavours, you rely on your sense of smell, which is why you can’t taste when you have a blocked nose.
The Standard Bank WineX team have identified 17 of the most essential aromas associated with different styles of wine. If you can smell black-currants, it’s probable the wine is – or contains – cabernet sauvignon. If you pick up lime and grapefruit, you most likely have a chardonnay in your glass.
You don’t need to know any of this to enjoy a glass of wine, but like everything in life, the more you know, the more you will enjoy.

Take a snack break at the Deli Counter, featuring speciality meats, olives, cheese, and chocolates from Ghana, perfect for pausing between tastings.
Up-close-and-personal tasting encounters
Arrive early and sign up for a tasting experience with a winemaker at the Tasting Theatre. These sessions run for 30 minutes, covering a variety of interesting wine topics.
