The Wedge Road Race returns with another 5km and 10km running event taking place on Saturday, 15 August 2026, in Morningside. Created to bring together residents, shoppers, fitness enthusiasts, families, local businesses
and community stakeholders, the event aims to celebrate healthy living while fostering meaningful connections within the community.

What to expect from The Wedge Road Race 2026

The road routes lead you through the scenic and suburban parts of Morningside. As the start hooter sounds off, you’ll join fellow runners on course.

The routes feature refreshment stations every 3km and there will be a prize giving for the winning runners at the race. There are also a range of exciting activities at the race, including food and drink to keep everyone entertained, so bring the family and friends along.

Walkers seen blatantly running will be disqualified. Note that no mechanical devices nor wheelchairs are allowed for the 10km race.

Community Shoe Drive: “Put a Sparkle in Someone’s Step”

In addition to the race, The Wedge is launching a shoe drive. Attendees are encouraged to donate any pre-loved shoes they no longer need at the Exhibitions Parking Lot, located near the Samsung store, after the race.

Cost: R60pp for 5km run; R130pp for 10km run (R100 per entrant aged 60 to 79); R60 for a temporary running license. Entrants aged 80 and up can enter either race for free.

Pre-entries close on 10 August 2026 and can only be booked online. Late entries are only done in-person at the race venue on Friday, 14 August from 3pm to 6pm and Saturday, 15 August from 6am to 6.45am.
