The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) hosts their annual Sundowner Concert, an opportunity to raise funds for the school’s Support Fund programme. On Saturday, 1 August 2026, music-lovers indulge in a full orchestral experience led by a renowned Maestro and supported by talented choirs and ballet dancers.

A musical fundraiser in the name of education aid
The DSJ’s Sundowner Concert is led in conduction by beloved South African Maestro Richard Cock. Featured talents include the DSJ Orchestra, marimbas, choirs from the Secondary School, Primary School and Preschool, dancers, and soloists Hannah Horsten (soprano) and Cooper Mlokoti who is also a choir leader and educator at DSJ.
Glühwein (spiced wine) and cosy winter treats are available to enjoy before the concert, with revenues from purchases also going to the Support Fund.
The Support Fund is DSJ’s programme offering a small amount of financial aid to students and potential students at the school in order to counteract the extreme inequality existing within South Africa’s education sector.
