Spend a summer afternoon in the park with Leon Bridges

One of the most distinctive voices in modern R&B, Bridges has built an international career around his timeless songwriting, effortless vocals and a sound that draws from the golden era of R&B while remaining firmly rooted in the present.

From his breakthrough debut Coming Home to albums including Good Thing, Gold-Diggers Sound and Leon – and releasing smash hits such as ‘River’, ‘Coming Home’, ‘Smooth Sailin’ and ‘Better Man’ – Bridges has continually evolved while retaining the R&B sensibility that first captured the world’s attention.

His fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime, which features production by J Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto of British trio Jungle – marks the next chapter in a career that has seen Bridges collaborate with artists across genres while earning widespread critical acclaim.

This long-awaited South African performance by Leon Bridges gives local audiences the opportunity to see the star as he both embraces his familiar sound as well as introduces fans to the latest chapter in his evolution.

Confirmed supporting acts for the concert include local band BCUC and soulful singer Wandile Mbambeni with more acts to be announced.

From classic sounds to contemporary R&B

Coming Home introduced audiences to a young artist whose music drew inspiration from the rich history of R&B, while his distinctive voice and understated style quickly established him as one of the genre’s most exciting new talents.

The album earned Bridges his first Grammy Award and launched a career that would see him become one of the defining R&B artists of his generation.

With Good Thing, Bridges expanded his musical palette, incorporating funk, jazz, R&B and contemporary production while maintaining his beautiful R&B vocal performances that had become his trademark.

His 2021 album Gold-Diggers Sound took that evolution even further, blending R&B, jazz and alternative influences into a deeply personal and atmospheric record.

The album produced standout tracks including “Motorbike,” “Sweeter” and “Why Don’t You Touch Me,” while earning Bridges further critical recognition.

His self-titled 2024 album, Leon, continued that journey, drawing on his Texas roots, personal experiences and a broader palette of musical influences.

Happiness Anytime finds Bridges returning to the warmth of Coming Home while embracing the groove and adventurous spirit of his celebrated collaborations with Khruangbin.

On Happiness Anytime, Bridges and Jungle’s signature sensibilities intertwine to create something entirely new – an expansive, borderless sound that pushes Bridges into thrilling new territory. There are echoes of Fela Kuti, the wanderlust of Paul Simon’s The Rhythm of the Saints, and the warmth of Jorge Ben, but the album never feels referential. Above all, it is unmistakably Leon Bridges.
