Africa Zazi celebrates cultures through song, drum and dance for children and young people from 8 to 14.
Africa Zazi offers a weekly 30 minutes to 1 hour session, learning the foundations of drumming, dance and music from different countries in Africa. This is not a music lesson, but an approach to familiarizing children with African culture, learning the different indigenous instruments, vocal and dance abilities of the continent.
It consists of music collaboration, conversation and rhythm language, using the body as an instrument. Children are encouraged to do solos to encourage self-expression. Booking is essential. A workshop for parents and kids at the Motswako Africa Rising Festival pop-up market on 27 May.
