Alto234: Epic Views and Fine Cocktails at This Rooftop Bar in Johannesburg

Found on the rooftop of The Leonardo in Sandton, Alto234 is the highest urban bar in Africa. The name stems from the Latin word, Alto, meaning height and 234 references how tall it stands in metres. With a 360-degree view of Johannesburg and its secret jungle, the city of Jozi has never seemed so vast and breathtakingly picturesque.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 12:30pm – 11pm, Alto234 offers a variety of experiences throughout the day. Each one of these experiences is held at different times to ensure guests book and appreciate the Johannesburg skyline at their leisure. From Afternoon, to Sunset and Night Lights experiences, there are many options for guests to enjoy the view before digging into the delicious premium menu prepared by AURUM Restaurant.

VALENTINE’S EVENING

This experience is a romantic evening on top of the rooftop with a fabulous view of Jozi while Will Rays serenades the crowd with his soft melodic songs and gentle strums on his acoustic guitar.

Tickets include entrance, a glass of Moët & Chandon, two tapas per person and a small gift for your valentine.

AFTERNOON EXPERIENCES

The Afternoon Experiences are from 1pm to 4pm. This is a prime opportunity to relax and take in the view of the city below to see the hustle and bustle from a different point of view.

SUNSET EXPERIENCES

The Sunset Experience is from 4pm to 7pm. This is the perfect time of the day to view Johannesburg in a golden setting followed by the city lights at night. A truly wonderful experience that grants you two views in one session. This is also a prime slot to check out the Alto234 Proposal Packages, where the venue helps you create the perfect ambience for a romantic proposal overlooking the city with a glorious sunset backdrop.

NIGHT LIGHT EXPERIENCES

The Night Light Experiences run from 7pm to 11pm and give guests an unforgettable view of the city lights. Imagine a vast space of flickering lights portraying shimmering flowers in what is actually a city. The Night Light Experience is the epitome of romance in the city.

FIRST SUNDAYS

First Sundays are all about relaxing on the terrace and soaking in some sun and music. To complement the scene of beauty, The Leonardo boasts its own private art collection for guests to enjoy along with tapas, drinks and live music presented by local artists.

Alto234 elevated the luxury with their exclusive Moët & Chandon champagne mini machine. Being the first and only one in Africa, guests can experience perfectly chilled 200ml bottles of French champagne at the touch of a button.

Regarding the beverages on offer, the wine list boasts some of the best international wines. There is also a fully stocked bar of exclusively premium spirits. Designed by Varoom Interiors, the venue features internal and external seating for guests. Alto234 can accommodate up to 100 people across seven seating areas throughout the venue.
