The final leg of the CTIAF (Cape Town International Animation Festival) Travelling Animation Showcase makes its way to The Bioscope on Thursday, 21 August and Saturday, 23 August 2025. Hosted by The Johannesburg Animation Xchange, attendees can look forward to catching a selection of animated shorts, a special series screening, talks on animation, and more! What’s in store for the CTIAF Travelling Animation Showcase in Joburg
Following successful events in Cape Town and Durban, the CTIAF Travelling Animation Showcase’s last stop will be in the city of gold.
Animation appreciators will not want to miss out, with the showcase event set to feature:
- A curated short film compilation featuring the best of South African and African animation
- A premiere screening of Rorisang & The Gurlz, the exciting new animated series from Cabblow Studios
- A special talk by Kabelo Maaka, Founder, Creative Director and Animator at Cabblow
- An opportunity to grab exclusive Rorisang merch.
About Rorisang & The Gurlz
Rorisang & The Gurlz follows K-pop superfan Rorisang, who is on a quest to start an AfroPop band with her group of besties at her conservative all-girls high school, but to do so, they need to get past their backward choir Mistress by proving her wrong and reaching musical superstardom.
The series is shaping up to be Cabblow Studios’ flagship animated series and an African animation icon in the making, with over 11000 views on the project’s webtoon comic and more than 70000 views across the character’s social media.
