For over a decade, Word N Sound has shaped the spoken word movement in South Africa, transforming poetry from a niche art form into a thriving cultural force. The ‘Word N Sound Legacy X: Future History,’ which reflected on this remarkable journey is coming to a close on Saturday, 12 April 2025. Here’s what you need to know about the closing event.

What to expect from the exhibition closing
The Word N Sound Legacy X exhibition closing will bring together food, literature, and community, and feature conversations with well-known published authors, a writers’ speed date, and an open mic session.
This is also your last chance to catch the exhibition, which invites visitors to walk through the milestones, performances, and voices that built the Word N Sound Legacy X: Future History exhibition. Through archival material, multimedia installations, and interactive experiences, audiences will witness how history continues to echo in every story shared.
More than a retrospective, this exhibition challenges visitors to imagine the future of storytelling in an ever-evolving world.
