Level Four restaurant at 54 on Bath just unveiled The Chef’s Table, a new dining experience running every evening in Rosebank. Keen diners have the rare opportunity to dine on a nine-course feast crafted by Executive Chef Donaldson Madubela and served right inside the bustling restaurant kitchen.

What to expect at the Chef’s Table dining experience

Every evening, Level Four restaurant’s Executive Chef Donaldson offers up to 4 guests the rare opportunity to dine in the working kitchen of a Joburg fine dining restaurant.

A decadent nine-course dinner is served, specially curated for the evening. The Chef will walk guests through the ethos and inspiration behind each dish on the exclusive menu. 

The menu spotlights a fusion of Mediterranean and South African cuisine featuring a beetroot cannelloni amuse-bouche, moving through succulent dishes like quail with lemongrass broth, seafood and corn chowder, and culminating with the exquisite lime-o-lade dessert. For those wishing to enhance their experience, a wine pairing option is also available.

After honing his skills at the International Hotel School, Chef Donaldson embarked on a career that saw him refine his craft at prestigious establishments that include Mount Grace Hotel in Magaliesburg and Arabella Hotel, Golf and Spa in Hermanus. His journey kickstarted through childhood experiences that were inspired by his father’s passion for cooking. 

Chef Donaldson’s resume includes stints as an Executive Chef at luxurious destinations such as Seychelles and Bazaruto Island where he developed a deep understanding of gourmet flavours and unique cultures. 

At 54 on Bath, Chef Madubela’s focus is on the culinary heritage of South Africa while driving dishes that are both innovative and rooted in tradition.

Cost: R1250pp for a nine-course dinner and optional wine pairing, additional R750pp. Book via email or call 011 344 8500. Bookings must be made within 48 hours

When: Every evening, from 6:30pm. A maximum of 4 guests is required per session
