The Slow Studio is offering Joburg and Pretoria-based craft lovers the perfect opportunity to unwind with a set of incredible creative offerings. With a choice from multiple workshops dedicated to teaching embroidery, Lino printing, and punch needling, secure your spot and grab an opportunity to create your own personal creative masterpiece!
The Slow Studio is the brainchild of Emma Annita Galetti, a Johannesburg-born, Cape Town-based embroidery maker and craft enthusiast who developed her love for embroidery from watching her mother and grandmother create their own crafts throughout her upbringing.
Having fallen in love with the way that embroidery making manages to slow things down in a world where everything has come to be so fast-paced, Emma developed a desire to share this love with others, prompting the establishment of The Slow Studio, through which she shares her talent for craft-making with craft-lovers from beginner to expert levels.
What to expect from the workshops
All the workshops hosted by The Slow Studio are beginner-friendly, so if you’re looking for a new hobby, would like to connect with likeminded people, or are just seeking a safe and open space to create – this might be just what you’re looking for.
The workshops are guided, hands-on and thoroughly explained, step-by-step. Each session also includes snacks and refreshments for attendees.
Embroidery workshops
Embroidery is the perfect pastime activity. It entails embellishing materials with needle and thread/yarn in a design of your choosing to create a stitched work of art. The embroidery workshops include a kit with all the bits and bobs you would need to get you going, and the embroidery theme is botanicals, so prepare to make your own plant-inspired design.

Upcoming punch needle workshops
Punch needling is another relaxing form of embroidery that many regard to be simpler than traditional embroidery. Rather than creating fine stitches with a needle, punch needling makes use of a larger, needle-like tool to punch holes into fabric, weaving the yarn through to create a raised design on the material.
All supplies are provided for each participant to create a beautiful piece to take home.
