See Sarajevo, a war-era theatre production with punch
Sarajevo is a much-needed reminder of the deep impact of war. This free theatre show takes audiences to the stage not just to recount history, but to mourn the fragile thread between love and violence, and to ask: how does friendship survive when the world demands enemies?
This war-era story centres around three friends — Mirela, Aleksander, Slobo, who are bound by childhood, separated by the conflict of their surrounds. Through them, we witness how easily a friend becomes a stranger — and how unspeakably hard it is to unmake that distance.
Another dimension of the role society plays during unrest plays out with Peter, a foreign conflict journalist who enters their lives with a camera and a thirst for the story. In documenting the war, he becomes part of it. The line between witness and participant blurs. What does it mean to observe suffering, and when does observation become intrusion?
