Originally established in 2023, The Gallery at Steyn City has achieved a lot in its infancy, housing a catalogue of artworks that include ceramics, drawings, mixed media, oil, paintings, prints and sculptures.

The Gallery at Steyn City works in association with Knysna Fine Art and Everard Read, sharing a commitment to presenting artists of lasting significance and maintaining close relationships with collectors.

Located within Steyn City, one of South Africa’s leading residential estates, the gallery offers a quiet and refined setting in which to experience important works.

Alongside exhibitions, the gallery assists collectors in sourcing works and developing collections over time, as well as hosts special events to complement the displays.

Sip & Paint with Petya Bartosch

The Gallery at Steyn City is not just giving you an opportunity to view artworks, but you can also make your own masterpiece with talented photographer Petya Bartosch herself.

This Sip & Paint experience is inspired by Petya’s Healing Hands exhibition and photographs from the most remote corners of Africa.

As Petya shares stories from her travels and insights into the Ju/’hoansi San Bushmen of Namibia’s extraordinary knowledge of nature, you’ll be guided step by step in creating your own beautiful baobab painting.

The price is inclusive of all art materials, expert guidance, light refreshments and a glass of wine.

H.I.M. (Heritage Inside Me) group exhibition

H.I.M. (Heritage Inside Me) brings together a group of local artists whose works explore the layered and evolving nature of heritage.

Through diverse artistic practices and perspectives, the exhibition considers how personal histories intersect with broader cultural narratives, revealing heritage not as a fixed inheritance but as a living, shifting presence within contemporary life.

Rather than imposing a single thematic framework, the exhibition embraces openness, allowing artists to approach the idea of heritage through memory, place, identity and transformation. Some works draw from intimate recollections and familial histories, while others engage with the collective experiences that shape communities and cultural belonging.

Across painting, sculpture and mixed media, the exhibition becomes a space where different voices converge, each offering a distinct interpretation of what it means to carry heritage within oneself. These works reflect on the subtle ways in which identity is continually negotiated between past and present, tradition and change.

By foregrounding these varied perspectives, H.I.M. (Heritage Inside Me) highlights the complexity of cultural memory and how artists translate lived experience into visual form. The work celebrates the generosity of those who shared their practices, stories and traditions, and the profound gift of being welcomed into their communities.
