Groves + Vineyards Wine Festival

Groves + Vineyards Festival

Annually in May

Groves + Vineyards is Joburg’s premier countryside wine festival, celebrating wine, food, and music in the scenic Muldersdrift countryside. The event promises a curated selection of fine wines, artisanal foods, and live performances by some of South Africa’s most beloved artists, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for all attendees.

For families, the Kids Zone, hosted by Club Engage, offers a range of activities to keep children aged 4 to 12 entertained. From creative crafts like rock painting and face painting, to active play on jumping castles, jungle gyms, and trampolines, the zone ensures a fun and engaging experience for younger guests. Parents can relax and enjoy the festival knowing their children are in the care of highly trained staff, making it a seamless experience for the whole family.

Johannesburg Cap Classique Festival

This exclusive event brings together lovers of sparkling wine to celebrate the finest bubbles from South Africa and France. Designed for both connoisseurs and enthusiasts, the gathering offers an intimate setting to enjoy a variety of sparkling wines in a refined and festive atmosphere.

The Trophy Wine Show

Annually in June

The Trophy Wine Show, sponsored by Investec, once again welcomes wine-lovers to the single-night Public Tastings in Sandton, which follow the announcement of the 2025 winners in early June. Wine lovers can find no less than 150 wines of distinction – silver, gold and trophy winners, all on show for toasting, tasting and deliberating, as well as for purchase through specialist wine retailer, Port2Port.

Highlights are always the Best White and Best Red Wines of Show, the International Judges’ trophy winner, Discovery of the Show (best value wine) and Best Premium Wine with the medalists of the Most Successful Producer claiming the limelight. In addition to the host of category winners, museum class vintages (at least four years old for white wines, eight years for red and sparkling) are also available for tasting. Patrons can enjoy the new releases from many favourites, but can also expect to meet some lesser-known cellars.

BenVino Spring Wine Festival

Annually in September

Val di Terra Fine Wines and Spirits hosts the BenVino Wine Festival, commemorating the spring season by offering tastings of some of the finest wines in South Africa.

This special spring event comes as a result of the success of their inaugural event in June 2024. The festival showcases fine wines produced by 25 of South Africa’s most prestigious Wine Farms, adding 13 new farms for its second instalment. Along with Val di Terra, they also welcome wines from Alle Bleue, Anura, Babylonstoren, Vergelegen, Weltevrede, Vondeling and many more.

Included in each ticket price is a tasting glass and unlimited tastings of a selection of over 200 wines on show. Other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and a scrumptious harvester’s platter are also available for purchase. Guests can also explore a newly introduced, dedicated Arts and Crafts area and take in the exuberant sounds of two musical acts at the festival.

Though there are plenty of shaded spots on the lovely grounds of the 114 on Waterhouse venue, guests are welcome to bring their own fold up chairs and umbrellas if they wish.

The 15Estates Boutique Wine Show is a unique, limited-access event designed to connect wine enthusiasts with the stories behind boutique wines.

Spanning two days and five intimate venues, this carefully curated experience features 15 skilled winemakers, each passionate about their craft. With only 300 tickets available per day, guests are guaranteed ample time to savour the flavours and engage directly with the artisans who bring these exceptional wines to life. The venues, which spread between two restaurants, create a relaxed atmosphere, making it easy to enjoy the journey of discovery at your own pace.

The Pick n Pay Wine and Food Festival returns for two days of award-winning wines, gourmet food, and live music. Taste exceptional wines from over 40 top South African producers, enjoy Cap Classique and Champagne in the Sparkling Experience section, and pair wines with canapés at expert-led Tasting Room sessions.
