Mother’s Day Concert at Johannesburg Zoo: A Full Family Programme Honouring Matriarchs

The annual Mother’s Day Concert, hosted and coordinated by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, returns in 2026 with a fresh new lineup of entertainment to celebrate the important women in our lives.

On Sunday, 10 May 2026, the Johannesburg Zoo becomes a full-fledged entertainment venue with live music, food, drinks, activities and opportunities to see the Zoo’s animals up close.

What’s on the 2026 Mother’s Day Concert programme

Hosted in partnership with Joburg Theatre, the Mother’s Day Concert honours mothers, caregivers, and families with a full day of relaxation, entertainment, and outdoor enjoyment.

On the lineup

The highlight of the annual concert is the live acts, and this year’s lineup of entertainers includes Ami Faku, The Soil, Bongi Archi, Matthew Mole, and the Phoenix Orchestra conducted by Richard Cock.

The 2026 edition of the Mother’s Day Concert has plenty more to offer beyond the music, including:

guided Zoo heritage and Big 5 tours;
a lively kiddies play zone;
diverse food and craft vendors; and
a dedicated hospitality programme for senior citizens from selected regions across Johannesburg.
