Recitals at Glenshiel are intimate chamber performances in a heritage setting with a mix of local and international artists and programmes that go beyond standard concert experiences. On selected Sundays, some of the most eclectic names in classical music in South Africa and beyond take over the historic halls of Glenshiel for an afternoon of fine music:

July: Love, Longing and Broadway with Christiaan Snyman

This July, Recitals at Glenshiel presents Christiaan Snyman, a celebrated and accomplished bass-baritone who has sung many roles from Mozart, Donizetti, and Bizet to Puccini and Wagner. The concert marks Christiaan’s debut performance at Glenshiel.

Accompanied by distinguished collaborative pianist and educator with a career spanning over three decades, Ilse Myburgh, Christiaan’s programme includes much loved favourites by Tchaikovsky, Strauss and Schumann, and songs from musicals including My Fair Lady, Les Miserables and South Pacific.

August: National Women’s Day Concert – Introspections with Ida Pelliccioli

For National Women’s Day, Recitals at Glenshiel present Italo-Croatian concert pianist Ida Pelliccioli, with her programme Introspections.

Born in Bergamo, Italy, Ida is an outstanding pianist who studied at the Nice Conservatoire de Région and at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. Throughout her career, she has been performed throughout Europe, Canada, Southeast Asia, Australia and South Africa.
