Recitals at Glenshiel are intimate chamber performances in a heritage setting with a mix of local and international artists and programmes that go beyond standard concert experiences. On selected Sundays, some of the most eclectic names in classical music in South Africa and beyond take over the historic halls of Glenshiel for an afternoon of fine music:

Recitals at Glenshiel presents Gauteng Guitar Quartet – Breakfast Around the Sun

The Gauteng Guitar Quartet formed in 2024 and is comprised of four of South Africa’s leading performing classical guitarists – Dillon Davie, Ryan Kirsten, Jonathan Moolman and Nathalie Roué.

Combined, they bring a wealth of experience and musicianship to the concert stage. The GGQ is particularly interested in playing the music of contemporary composers, and has already performed two world premières, with more to come.

The GGQ will be performing their programme entitled “Breakfast Around the Sun”, which includes:

Antonio Ruiz-Pipó’s ‘Cancion y Danza’ (arr. John Asmuth)
John Asmuth’s ‘Fools Rushing In’ and ‘Breakfast Around the Sun’
Johann Pachelbel’s ‘The Loose Canon’ (arr. LA Guitar Quartet)
