Launched in June 2025, the Sunset Music Series has quickly become one of Johannesburg’s most anticipated outdoor concert experiences. Gigs are set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort, the series transforms its lush, rolling lawns into a stage for South Africa’s finest musical talent. Lloyiso

Lloyiso’s genre bridges South African musical heritage with a modern global sensibility — his songwriting rooted in emotion, vulnerability and self-expression, with lyrics that explore love, heartbreak and personal growth. Lloyiso brings all of that and more to the Sunset Music Series stage in Johannesburg.

His debut EP Seasons went six times platinum and earned him a South African Music Award for Best Pop Album, catapulting him onto the international stage. Collaborations with Martin Garrix and Clean Bandit, a celebrated BRIT Awards appearance, and a sold-out headline tour across South Africa and the UK have cemented his global standing. His latest singles, High and Higher, mark a transformative new chapter — a soaring, pop-infused exploration of resilience, self-belief and personal elevation.

Two of South Africa’s most captivating singer-songwriters share the Sunset Music Series stage. Cape Town’s Matthew Mole blends folk with electronic influences, crafting a live experience that seamlessly weaves guitar, synth, kick drum and triggered beats into something truly mesmerising.

All three of his studio albums debuted at number one on iTunes SA, and his latest, Wake Up, It’s Morning, brings themes of hope and resilience across 140 million Spotify streams. Joining him is fellow Capetonian Will Linley — a rising star whose gold-certified debut single launched him onto South African radio and beyond. His debut album Don’t Cry Because It’s Over (2025) blends introspective lyrics with vibrant pop production, backed by performances at Lollapalooza and headline tours across Europe and the US.

Spoegwolf and Francois van Coke

The Sunset Music Series brings a powerhouse double bill as two of South Africa’s most popular rock bands share the stage for a one-of-a-kind concert under the Jozi skies.

Paarl-born Spoegwolf are known for raw, thought-provoking lyrics blended with driving rock and folk-pop energy, and have topped the charts to become one of South Africa’s most celebrated Afrikaans acts. Their latest EP, Water en Weerlig (2025), channels natural elements through volatile, emotive tracks — and their live shows are the stuff of legend. Joining them is Francois van Coke, a staple of the South African rock scene since co-founding the subversive Fokofpolisiekar, who has maintained the raw emotion of his punk roots while constantly experimenting with new soundscapes. His fifth solo album, Die Ruimte (2025), integrates the full range of his diverse musical background — a career-defining statement from one of Afrikaans music’s most iconic voices.

Planning your visit to the Sunset Music Series at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden? Here’s what you need to know to make the most of your picnic-style evening. Guests are welcome to bring along their own food in picnic baskets or bags, as well as comfortable camp chairs and blankets for lounging on the lawn. Small umbrellas may be used, but to ensure clear views for everyone, these must be set up at the back of the venue.

Please note that cooler boxes, glass items, tables, and gazebos are not permitted. To maintain a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere, children under the age of five enjoy free entry.

We recommend you arrive early to settle in at a spot of your choice underneath the trees.
