CHIC WEEKEND BRUNCH AT PABLO SANDTON

Pablo’s Sandton has been the go-to for hip Joburg foodies ever since they’ve set up shop at the Insta-chic Mint Hotel. Situated at 84 Katherine Street, Sandown, Pablo Sandton is reviving brunch culture with its expansive menu that caters to a variety of tastes from a Shakshuka bowl or oven-baked granola with thick Greek yoghurt and seasonal fruit.

The menu is divided into the breakfast/brunch of Pablo Eggs-Go-Bar, and evening Pablo Sandton, which marks a return of signature dishes.

In keeping with Pablo’s ethos of family and community at its heart, the menu brims with sharing styles, mezze and small plate offerings, pizza and Middle Eastern-inspired tacos while wood-fired grills are on offer from lunch and dinner. A FASCINATING THEATRE PRODUCTION ABOUT A FEISTY JEWISH WOMAN

The Market Theatre is steaming ahead, celebrating 45 years of important storytelling and stage productions in Jozi’s arts scene The latest must-see work is Rose, is a dense and painfully relevant play that recounts a personal confession of an extraordinary woman in her remembering all the brilliant and tragic elements of a life lived to the full. Three husbands and a hippy lover later and experiments with memory and magic this is the story of a survivor.

This powerful one-woman tour-de-force staging by Martin Sherman (Bent, 1979) was nominated for an Olivier when it first premiered at the National Theatre in 1999. It remains sadly relevant today as racial tensions escalate and displacement sadly is a contemporary South Africa. Malcolm Purkey conveys the story of a woman toughened by experiences but is in no way immune to empathy.

Sensitively performed by Camilla Waldman under the direction of Malcolm Purkey, and designed by Margo Snoyman with lighting by Mannie Manim, this piece of theatre promises a very moving experience.

Cost: Tuesday – Thursday R90pp. Friday – Saturday R150pp, and Sunday R130pp

When: Running from 23 April to 16 May. Tuesday to Saturday at 7pm, and Sunday at 3:15pm
