Ground the Venue is bringing back the much-awaited Ground Cru Winter Edition, rebranded to “The Sip & Savour” on 11 July 2026. This wine-tasting event in Johannesburg is set in the countryside and famously shines a light on refined wines from esteemed Cape wineries.

Sample exquisite flavours of both new and rare vintages, taste comforting food from local vendors and unwind in tranquil surroundings with family and friends while live bands set the mood.

Ground Cru is bringing together over 20 respected wines from both popular and underrated wine regions in the Cape to really hone in on diverse flavour profiles. Take in your Sip & Savour experience with live music by DJ Abby Nurock to set the tone.

Plus, rugby fans won’t miss any of the action as South Africa takes on Scotland on the big screen. Those who want to take the experience to the next level can upscale their ticket for the VIP Boschendal experience where you can enjoy a bottle of bubbles, a delicious charcuterie platter, private space and a table, a private bar and waiter service, and a space to enjoy for the day with your name on it.

This edition of Ground Cru features carefully curated spaces for a more immersive experience. Guests can:

Find Mexico in the cactus garden and purchase tequila, margaritas, nachos and tacos
Meander through the vineyards to taste and purchase wines from all regions, and enjoy cheese and deli meats
Visit the Whiskey lounge to purchase your favourite whiskeys, cigars etc.
Wander into Bubbles boulevard for MCC/champagne tastings, sales and oysters for purchase

Things to do with the kids

The event is child-friendly, and entry fees for kids are priced at R100pp, while under 3-year-olds enter free. There will be a designated kids’ area where the little ones can hop on jumping castles, enjoy the painting station, try their hand at ceramic painting and do pony rides.
