The collective of wine farms in Elgin is offering a series of relaxed tastings to welcome you into the world of wine (even if you’re a complete newbie). Here’s all you need to know about the event:

What to expect at this wine-tasting event
Join in on a premium wine-tasting event that features a range of renowned wine farms in the Elgin Valley. The region is famous for delivering exceptional Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc varietals, helped by cool-climate conditions.
This tasting session takes place at Proud Mary in the hub of Rosebank, and ticketholders can look forward to meeting Elgin’s top winemakers and sommeliers, tasting a variety of well-respected offerings and discovering what makes their wines so exceptional. Hint, it’s not just the region’s unique terroir. From Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and more, each producer offers a different perspective on what makes Elgin distinctive.
The tastings are complemented with carefully crafted canapés to pair and enhance your wine experience perfectly. Booking is essential as space is limited.

More about Wines of Elgin
Situated within the Kogelberg Biosphere, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Elgin’s wine valley is enclosed by mountains and perched between 250 and 500 metres above sea level, uniquely shaping the region’s viticulture. Elgin is also one of the Cape’s newer regions and was formally declared a wine route in 1990.
The region boasts some great natural advantages, such as high altitudes, cold winters with ample rainfall, and refreshing southeasterly sea breezes – coupled with the black South Easter wind, creating unique cloud cover days leading up to and during the harvest period, contributing to a unique microclimate.
Signature varietals to try at any of the wine farms in the region are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. Wine of Elgin also showcases its versatility with offerings such as Riesling, Merlot, Syrah, and an array of other varieties across its 721 hectares of vineyards.
