What’s new at the gallery
For founder Doreen Pfeiffer, the move is less about relocation and more about evolution. What began as a focused offering of black and white fine art photography in 2006 has grown into a broader, more layered collection — one that now includes vintage photography, contemporary prints, and striking new original artworks, from delicate Swarovski crystal pin pieces to expressive small-scale abstracts.
The new space reflects this shift. More expansive and thoughtfully curated, it invites visitors to experience art not just as individual pieces, but as part of a living environment — much like it would exist within a home.
Over the years, The Cow Artworks has become a trusted source for collectors, designers, and homeowners alike, supplying art to private residences, Interior Designers, restaurants, boutique hotels, and commercial spaces across Johannesburg. Its enduring appeal lies in its balance: art that feels both elevated and accessible, curated yet deeply personal.

What makes The Cow Artworks special
The Cow Artworks launched in 2004 with a focus on promoting affordable, high-quality art, specialising in photography. The gallery represents fine art black and white photography from both local and international photographers, whose images are sold exclusively through them. One of their most significant achievements has been establishing photography as an accessible medium for a wide audience — making it more popular, affordable and attainable than ever before.
The gallery’s service offering includes bespoke framing services that elevate each piece, as well as a curated selection of custom-made wallpapers, mirrors and vinyl applications.
