SAGRA 2026 is a Big Italian Culture and Food Festival Coming this Sunday

The Italian Sporting Club brings the return of SAGRA, a vibrant celebration of Italian food, culture, heritage and community, taking place on Sunday, 27 September 2026. The event invites thousands of visitors to enjoy everything that Italian culture has to offer Joburg over Heritage Day weekend.

Authentically Italian experiences at SAGRA 2026

SAGRA has become one of South Africa’s premier Italian cultural festivals, bringing together families, food lovers, motoring enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and the broader community for an unforgettable day of authentic Italian experiences.

Visitors can explore a carefully curated selection of Italian food vendors, artisan products, imported goods, fashion, accessories and gifting, while enjoying a full programme of entertainment and cultural experiences that celebrate the enduring influence of Italian heritage in South Africa.

Guests get to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine from a variety of vendors, including the award winning Settebello, recently recognised as 947’s Best Pizza in Johannesburg. From traditional favourites to regional specialities, visitors can expect a culinary journey through Italy without leaving Johannesburg. Italian wines, Prosecco, aperitifs, craft beer and traditional Italian beverages are available as well.

Music lovers are also in for a nostalgic treat. Maurizio Bazan – the legendary former resident DJ of the renowned Italian Club Disco – takes to the decks, bringing back memories for generations who danced the night away at one of Johannesburg’s most iconic social venues.

Plus, parents are free to bring the kids along too, as there’s an exciting lineup of entertainment designed for them too.

Awe-inspiring Italian automobiles on display

One of the major attractions at this year’s SAGRA event is the impressive showcase of Italian motoring excellence.

Visitors can expect displays from some of the country’s most passionate Italian vehicle communities, including Ferrari (SEFAC), Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Vespa and Lambretta enthusiasts, offering a rare opportunity to experience some of Italy’s most iconic automotive and motorcycle brands up close.

Adding further excitement to the programme is a dedicated Gymkhana activation in collaboration with renowned motoring enthusiast Arnold Chatz, featuring Alfa Romeo vehicles in a dynamic display of precision driving and automotive performance.
