Top Easter Egg Hunts in Johannesburg 2024

What is Easter without an Easter Egg hunt or two? And of course again this year Gauteng boasts various Easter egg hunts that are sure to entertain the entire family. While the kids go around hunting for Easter treats, the rest of the family can either enjoy a family festival experience, a beautiful Easter lunch spread, or wander through a scenic berry farm, courtesy of some of the exciting Easter celebration events taking place this 2024.

Poplar Park: The Easter Bunny returns for the park’s annual Easter egg hunt

The Easter Bunny pays a visit to Poplar Park once again in 2024. This Easter egg hunt event is a fundraiser which supports the park and relies on Easter egg donations, so guests are welcome to donate a box of marshmallow eggs or anything else for the celebration and drop them at the Beethoven Coffee shop at the poplar park centre.

There is loads to do beyond hunting down sweet treats, including jumping castles, pottery painting, face painting, and lots of other treats. So, bring a basket or bag to collect some yummy eggs and join in for a fun family afternoon out.

Note that no refunds will be given in event of cancellation.

Cost: Free for adults | R60 per child, book tickets and/or donate to the park via Quicket

When: 10 March, hunt begins at 3pm for children aged 1-3 & at 3.30pm for children 4-12

Rand Club: An Easter egg hunt & harvest table

Indulge in an Easter feast whilst keeping the kids entertained with an exciting Easter egg hunt.

On the menu for the afternoon is Asian beef short rib, Chicken with Olives, dates and capers, Caponata (Sicilian aubergine stew), Couscous salad with roasted peppers and chickpeas, Roast butternut salad with winter greens, whipped feta and mint Green salad, Middle eastern cauliflower salad with tahini dressing and much more.

Egoli Easter Family Festival: Fun for the whole family and an Easter egg hunt experience

The Egoli Easter Family Festival is one not to miss, offering a carnival, water fun, petting zoo, and Easter egg hunt experience for the kids to enjoy over the Easter break.

Attendees can enjoy the variety of food on offer and the musical atmosphere set by the guest musicians. There are also waterslides, a cow train, jumping castles and a foam pit for added fun.

Beer and cocktails are available for purchase. No food, alcohol, or cooler boxes are allowed.

Indaba Hotel: Chief’s Boma Easter egg hunt and lunch

Join in on the Easter fun with the Chief’s Boma Easter Lunch celebration at Indaba Hotel. The event features a Classic Sunday Lunch Buffet with Easter extras, and live entertainment by the Marimba Band.

While the children may happily indulge in the buffet, they can also spend their time in the enclosed jungle gym area or enjoy an organised Easter egg hunt. Availability is limited, so booking is essential.

Field Berry Farm: A scenic Easter egg hunt

Instead of the usual type of Easter hunt, visitors to Field Berry Farm will have a blast searching for coloured stones hidden among the raspberry bushes, which can be swapped out for chocolate eggs at the end of the hunt. The venue also offers a guided walk near the berry field which takes the guests through the different stages of the Easter Story.

Walk-ins will not be accepted, so be sure to secure your spot by booking online.

B’sorah Luxury Tents: Easter Egg Hike

The Hop, Skip and Easter Egg Hike is an easter egg hunt with a difference. Held at the B’sorah Luxury Tent and Venue in Hartbeespoort, this fun Easter activity gathers attendees for a 5km exploration through scenic trails while hunting for hidden Easter treasures. This is the perfect blend of outdoor fun and Easter festivities!

This is an ideal event for the entire family to enjoy and adventure amidst nature’s beauty. The ticket covers a hike, easter egg hunt and the eggs can be redeemed for a special gift. Donations will be given to the Witkoppen Primary School in the form of Easter packs.

Kitty and Puppy Haven

Kitty & Puppy Haven: Easter egg hunt with a cause

Kitty and Puppy Haven is a non-profit shelter with the mission of rescuing animals that have been neglected, abused, or abandoned. This event aims to raise funds for the animal haven, as donations and adoption rates have reduced while the intake of animals has increased.

This is an egg-stra special opportunity for the shelter’s supporters to meet the team and help raise funds. There are raffle tickets on sale, the fully stocked pet shop is open, and supporters can meet and spoil the resident dogs and cats.

Cost: Entrance fee is 6 tins (cat or dog food) or 12 tins for families of 4-6 (but still please book via Quicket)
