Jozi Silent Book Club is the first Johannesburg chapter of this new worldwide movement built around a revamped concept of a traditional book club. This monthly social gathering is a fresh way to discover new books and connect with other readers. Read on to find out more.

What is a silent book club?
Jozi Silent Book Club is a laid-back, no-pressure gathering for book lovers. Unlike traditional book clubs, there’s no assigned reading, no deadlines, and definitely no pop quizzes on plot points. You just show up with whatever book you’re into and settle in for some uninterrupted reading time with fellow book lovers.
Here’s the Jozi Silent Book Club format
The event starts at 10am, and guests can register their attendance or simply drop in. Pack your own blanket, snacks, and drinks before finding your spot at the Botanical Gardens to settle in.
During arrival, you can chat with fellow readers if you feel like it, before everyone starts into their own books for an hour. Afterwards, you can stick around to discuss books—or anything else or continue reading until the session ends.
It’s like a book club, but chill, judgment-free, and perfect for introverts and busy folks looking to meet new people.
