JPO’s Valentine’s Gala Concert 2026
Join the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra for the annual Valentine’s Gala Concert for a mix of classical works and contemporary love-themed songs for both young and old. This year, the concert takes place on Saturday, 14 February at the Linder Auditorium.
Well-known conductor Daniel Boico will guide the orchestra for this special concert. The guest soloist for the evening is award-winning pianist Charl du Plessis.

Joburg Ballet presents Giselle
Visits to the theatre don’t get more magical than Joburg Ballet’s sublime Giselle.
Giselle tells the story of a love so powerful it reaches from beyond the grave; a tale of passion, betrayal and forgiveness showcasing South Africa’s finest dancers.
Produced and staged by Angela Malan, the 2026 presentation of Giselle at the Joburg Theatre launches Joburg Ballet’s 25th anniversary year. ‘True Romance’ at The Bioscope
Every year on Valentine’s Day, The Bioscope has always screened the Tarantino written, Tony Scott cult classic True Romance (1993), starring Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. Not your typical romance film, this action rampage is something a little different, where a forbidden romance and a crime action story seamlessly meld together.
This year they’re also screening the steamy and dreamy new Wuthering Heights film starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi and opening around the world on Valentine’s Weekend.

This Valentine’s night, celebrate love wrapped in the soulful melodies of South Africa’s most cherished jazz composers, as performed by Ziza Muftic.
Ziza Muftic is a Croatian-born, Johannesburg-based jazz vocalist, composer, pianist, and educator known for her unique voice and expressive musical style. Ziza’s sound is characterised by a mix of Eastern European folk influences with American and South African jazz traditions.
She performs in several languages, including English, Croatian, Hungarian, Portuguese, isiXhosa, and isiZulu. Expect to hear music by composers Khaya Mahlangu, McCoy Mrubata, Bheki Mseleku, Moses Taiwa Molelekwa, Themba Mkhize, Sydney Mnisi, Feya Faku, Marcus Wyatt, and more.

‘Día de los Muertos’ translates to ‘Day of the Dead’ and is a two-day Spanish holiday that reunites the living and dead, as people prepare offerings for their dearly departed. This event draws inspiration from this Spanish holiday, calling on guests to embrace skulls, roses, candles, colour, and chaos.
