Cape Ballet Africa and Global Star Events are bringing one of the world’s most beloved ballet productions, Swan Lake, to Joburg stages, with the production set to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s original composition.

Swan Lake is the pinnacle of classical ballet, having dazzled audiences for generations, elegantly using motion to tell a story of passion, devotion and betrayal. The ballet tells the story of Prince Siegfried, whose heart is captured by Odette, a princess cursed to live as a swan by day. Their fates entwine in a powerful struggle against evil, where love must prove stronger than the sorcery that seeks to tear them apart.

The new production is created and performed by a 50-strong company, featuring choreography and stage direction by Georgian-born, London-based former principal ballerina with the English National Ballet, Elena Glurjidze.

Marcus Wyatt presents Church of the Rolling Tongue

Marcus Wyatt is a South African trumpet player, composer, arranger and bandleader who has been an influential figure in the country’s jazz landscape for over three decades. ‘Church of the Rolling Tongue’ is Marcus’ latest creative ensemble, bringing together some of South Africa’s most distinctive improvisers, composers and musical storytellers.

Sprint at the Wedge Road Race

The Wedge Road Race returns with another 5km and 10km running event. Created to bring together residents, shoppers, fitness enthusiasts, families, local businesses and community stakeholders, the event aims to celebrate healthy living while fostering meaningful connections within the community.

The Almond Blossom Festival

The Almond Blossom Festival is built around the highlight of the season: a 1.5km self-guided blossom trail winding through the almond trees. Along the way, visitors discover stations featuring Japanese poetry and art, with the chance to fold their own origami masterpiece step by step, ending with a completed piece to take home.

The walk takes about half an hour and requires no special fitness level, though comfortable shoes are advised for uneven ground. For those wishing to explore further, a brand-new 5km farm trail offers birdwatching and scenic views at a leisurely pace.
